This week I've been making piles of Easter Baskets for the store. The tradition is to trim your trees for spring, bring a few nice branches in the house, put in a vase and decorate the branches with heart baskets and yellow feathers. Festive and bright and ready for Easter.
Making the baskets also made me remember a May Day (May 1st) tradition from when I was a kid. We would weave little paper baskets, fill them with little treats and anonymously hang them on the front door knobs of neighbors and friends houses. We would make a special point of hanging them at the homes of people who were especially kind to us that year and the homes of families that were going through a hard time. Is it time to start that tradition again?
